Defining and delivering new classes is simple and intuitive.
Delivering a class with OrasiLabs is as simple as 1-2-3. Using our built-in wizards and standard templates, you can setup and deliver a class in minutes.
1 - Create a Lab Template
First, you create a reusable lab template. Lab templates are cloud-based, virtual machine images that are used to deploy the labs that students use to practice or accomplish class exercises.
2 - Create a Class
Second, you create a class definition. Classes are specific usages of one or more templates and identify the students to be included (by email address). Classes can either have specific dates and times associated to them, or they can be left running for a longer period of time to support on-demand models.
Classes can also attach reusable libraries to the lab images. This lets an instructor easily share important class assets with the students either before or during a class.
Once a class is created, OrasiLabs will automatically send out invitation emails to all of the participants. In addition to the basic class logistics, the email also includes detailed instructions, a link to a connection test, and a student-specific link to join the class.
3 - Deliver the Class
Finally, you need only start the class to create and deploy all of the necessary resources. OrasiLabs will automatically create independent, dedicated lab images for the instructor and each student.
The instructor can control student access by starting and stopping the class, as desired. For more flexible or on-demand classes, the class would remain open so that students can access the labs at their convenience.
The instructor can also start and stop the individual student labs, as desired. To reduce cost, labs can be set to auto-pause after a specified interval.
Students access their labs through a browser portal, using the dedicated link supplied in the registration email. For each lab image (e.g., virtual machine) they have access to, the student will see a thumbnail they can expand and manipulate. Students also have the ability to pause and restart their own labs, as necessary.
While the class is running, the instructor can easily monitor any number of student sessions using the OrasiLabs "over the shoulder" console. If necessary, the instructor can even take over a student lab and manipulate the mouse and keyboard in order to answer a question or fix a problem the student has experienced.
