How to use Sysprep with OrasiLabs resources.
Sysprep Overview
For advanced users who require their Windows labs to each have a unique machine name or security identifier, OrasiLabs provides support for Microsoft’s Sysprep. When enabled for a Windows server, Sysprep is run when the corresponding lab template is published.
To enable Sysprep for a Windows server, follow these steps (details below) while in a lab template:
Switch to the Edit Template Resources view
If necessary, add a Windows server to the lab template
Select the Windows server, and enable Sysprep
Start the lab template
Install custom software and configure the machine
Publish the lab template
Use the lab template in a class
Important Points to Note
For Sysprep to be properly executed, the lab template must be started before publishing the template.
Sysprep cannot be invoked manually from inside of Windows. Attempts to do so could result in a state that leaves the machine inaccessible. Be sure to follow the steps in this article to successfully use Sysprep.
Detailed Steps
While viewing the details of a lab template, switch to the Edit Template Resources view
2. If necessary, add a Windows server to the lab template, by selecting a Server and dragging it to the Lab Template Designer.
3. Select the Windows server, and select Publish with Sysprep in the Configuration tab of the resource options.
4. Click Start to start the lab template.
5. Customize your template by Installing custom software and configuring the machine. Please refer to the article Customizing Lab Images for additional details.
