Modifying Server Configurations for Servers in a Template

Modified on Mon, 29 Apr at 1:13 PM

If you want to change the configuration of one of your servers, go into the Template Designer (while creating a template), or click "Edit Template Resources" (while working with an existing template), then double-click on the server in your template that you wish to modify.

A sidebar shows up with Configuration options:

·         Server Name

·         Description

·         Instance Type (AWS Instance types with various RAM, CPU, Network, and usage rate - list configured by your Admin)

·         Base Image (various Windows or Linux versions)

·         Connection Type (RDP or NONE)

·         Volume size (50 Gb initially, configurable - can grow, but not shrink)

Changing the Name, Description or Connection type will not impact your work done setting up the server.

If you decide you need more disk space (volume size), or a more or less capable Instance Type, these can be modified without losing the work you have done up to this point.

If you decide to change the Base Image type (e.g. select a different version of Windows or Linux), you would need to remove the server (thereby losing any OS changes you have done or software you have loaded on the server) from the template and add a different one set to use the Base Image you want to change to.

In order to MODIFY your existing template's server configuration, it must be "stopped" and NOT "published".
