How to find the EXTERNAL name/address of a server in an OrasiLabs template

Modified on Mon, 29 Apr at 1:07 PM

From time to time you may need to know the External server name of an OrasiLabs server running in a Lab Template.

To find the External machine name/address (or Static DNS name) of any of your servers in an OrasiLabs Lab Template, you just need to go to the Lab templates menu item at the left, then select your lab template you want to work with from the list.

Then, you will see the Template Details page at the right.

Scroll down to the Template Resources section and expand to see the list of servers used in the Template.

Here, we have this address for "server-b":

fff317c5-d13a-4853-a2ac-0cfccfe99c7d.orasilabsdns.cloud

So, if you want to get to this server from "outside" the training environment (e.g. from your laptop), you would also need to open/add a port to do so.

In our example, we added a "port" object pointing to "server-b" and specified Port 22 so we could use an SSH client to access this server using the above Static DNS address.
