Understand how an instructor can use the "Over The Shoulder" view to monitor student progress.
Whether you're teaching in person or managing a virtual classroom, one of the hardest things for an instructor is to keep track of what students are doing. It's tough enough in a traditional face-to-face classroom where the instructor is at the front of the room facing the students, but it's almost impossible in a virtual classroom where the instructor isn't physically present with the students.
That's where the OrasiLabs "Over The Shoulder" view comes in. It allows an instructor to easily monitor the students in real-time. Thumbnails of the student lab environments are displayed in a grid so that instructors can quickly see what each student is doing in their lab. This lets instructors instantly know if students are following along, falling behind, or not paying attention at all. Instructors can then alter their delivery pace or prompt the class, as desired.
Obviously, this "Over The Shoulder" view is critical for virtual training where an instructor can't physically see the students to gauge progress. However, it's also valuable when training on premise because instructors can see what's happening on the student machines without leaving their podium. As they are teaching, instructors can watch student progress and alter their delivery as necessary.
Using these thumbnails, then, instructors can focus on a specific student lab when questions come up. If desired, instructors can enlarge a specific student lab to watch it more closely. Students can electronically "raise their hand" when they need help, and instructors can even take control of a student machine if a student gets stuck.
